 Santa Claus had a jolly good time visiting with our children and families at our Annual Breakfast with Santa event on Saturdaymorning.

Caroling for seniors 2010

Singing for Seniors: Please join us THIS Friday, December 13, to come and have a heart opening experience. The 1st-4th Grade Students will sing and visit with seniors at Eden Lodge in San Leandro, and the 3rd-6th Grade Students will visit Wittenberg Manor in Hayward..

Winners will be drawn after the Holiday Program,Friday, Dec. 20.  Winners need not be present to win.
Sparta Gymnastics and Coach J would like to invite you to their Christmas Show and Open Gym party to be held this comingSaturday, Dec. 14, at 2:30 p.m. Information on flyer here.
Holiday Program, Friday, December 20th, 7 p.m.:  Every student from preschool through eighth grade will perform on stage in a class skit or song.

Congratulations to our 2013 Bake Off Winners at the Breakfast with Santa Event:
1st Place: Teacher Mr. Daniel Wildman for his delicious cheese cake.
2nd Place: 6th Grade Student Rina Munakata for her Meringue Cookies with homemade whipped cream.
3rd Place: 7th Grade Student Miranda Rittenbach for her lovely cupcakes.

NO School for Kindergarten – 8th grade students, Nov. 25 – 29.turkey.jpgPRESCHOOL will be held as usual, November 25, 26, 27, but the preschool will be closed for the holiday Nov. 28-29. 
 
Last week to donate to the FOOD DRIVE at school to support local

families in need.   Barrels will be picked up next week!  Thank you for bringing food! The Alameda County Community Food Bank distributes enough food for 380,000 meals weekly.  The 5th and 6th grade students will volunteer at the Food Bank in February.

Parent-Teacher Conferences, Nov.26-27,
for all students in preschool-8th grade:
On Monday, Nov. 18, you will receive a confirmation of your Parent-Teacher appointment. Please check your child’s Behavior Report or preschool parent folder.
If you have not received confirmation, or you can no longer make that time, please call the office asap!

New this year: Enter your best baked goods in our Bake-Off (see flyer, click here)! Bring baked goods by 10 a.m. for judging at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 baked goods!
Pennies for the Philippines:  The 7th and 8th Grade Class is holding a competition to see which class can donate the most money to aid victims of Typhoon Haiyan. There are collection jars in each classroom.

FOOD DRIVE at school to support localfamilies in need.   Thank you for bringing food  for the big red and black barrels. The Alameda County Community Food Bank distributes enough food for 380,000 meals weekly.  After studying about the work of UNICEF serving globally, the students are now learning about the needs of people locally.

The Principled Academy is still accepting donations for UNICEF.  We have reached about $850 of our $1000 goal. Thank you for your generosity and efforts to take your children trick or treating for UNICEF.

All families and friends are welcome as 6th grade students  present a Veterans Day program.
Pizza Lunch, Friday, November 15th: Please see the sign-up form here.  1 piece of pizza and a drink $2.  Extra slices are $1 each.  Deadline to order:  Wednesday, Nov. 13.  SORRY, but Orders received after Nov. 13 will not be processed.  This is a fundraiser for the Washington, DC, trip for the 7th and 8th grade class.
Picture Make-up and Retake Day, this Thursday, November 14: If your child needs a retake, please fill out form and send packet to the office. If your child missed Picture Day in October, please make sure your child will be at The Principled Academy between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Thanks for a Great Night at
Trunk or Treat 2013!
It was the best one ever!
We had many families from our school and local community enjoy the trunk decorations, sweet candy, slippery slide, delicious food, and fabulous Haunted House!

Please support your child to take theUNICEF box and collect money when “Trick or Treating” on Halloween.  Thank you for your support!
Halloween Candy Grams! 
Students will be selling before school, at lunch time, and after school through Wednesday.
If you cannot get to school, You can send a note and money in an envelope, and we can write a note to be delivered to your child.

NO COSTUMES ON HALLOWEEN
The Principled Academy does not allow any students to wear costumes to school on Halloween on Thursday, October 31.  Please wear the regular uniform.  Thank you!
HARVEST FESTIVAL, On Friday, Nov. 1st, at the school for all students.   The 7th and 8th grade class will have games and contests for all the students. There will be a science table and a petting zoo!
Wear Harvest colors on Friday!
Students in preschool through 8th grade are allowed to wear shirts and sweaters with harvest colors and themes:  yellows, oranges, reds, browns, etc.  K-8th students must wear uniform pants. Celebrate the season!
SERVICE HOURS:
Thank you for supporting the school by driving for field trips, working the hot dog lunch, or helping at Trunk or Treat! Great American Fundraiser raised over $3500!  Thank you to all the families who participated in the  and helped us raise over $3500!
Congratulations to our top seller, Kyle Sychov, who raised over $300!  Kyle wins the Airzooka prize for his efforts! Congratulations to the following students who sold over 15 items to enable Great American to send an egg producing chicken to a family overseas:  Corina Iredale (2 chickens), Kyle Sychov, Marcus Collins, Kai Kellett, Gabrielle Barnes, and Tony Burns!

 Thank you to all who united against bullying and wore orange on UNITY DAY last Wednesday!  The 7th and 8th grade students made orange ribbons for everyone.

School Photo Day, Wednesday, October 16: All students in all grades preschool-eighth grade will be photographed for our school year book.
If you would like to order a beautiful photo package of your child from local Professional Photographer Jerry Hamilton, please fill out the form and return with payment to the classroom teacher or school office. More order forms are available from the school office. Preschool students may wear  dressy clothes, but bring play clothes to change into.  K-8 students may wear a nice shirt or blouse, with uniform pants, or a clean uniform shirt for the photos.  All students will be photographed for the yearbook, whether pictures are ordered or not.
   
Great California ShakeOut 2013
Our school is registered to participate in the Great California ShakeOut on Thursday, October 17th, the anniversary of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake.  Please click  

here  for more details.The students will practice and be prepared. Please join us at Morning Assembly on Wednesday and Thursday, and learn what to do during an earthquake.
Halloween Candy Grams will be on sale before school, at lunch time, and after school beginning this week.  For only $1 you can get a personalized message on a card and some candy delivered to anyone at the school!  This is a fundraiser for the 7th and 8th grade trip to Washington, DC!  Thank you for your support!

Trunk or Treat is coming SOON!Saturday, October 26!
Please look at the flyer here. We need more people to decorate trunks or the back of cars. It can be simple, if you want.  Just open the back of your van and set up a simple game like bowling or throw a bean bag in a bucket, or pumpkin, and give kids candy.  You will make lots of kids happy and have a great time yourself!
If you cannot help at the event, we need donations of candy for the trunk and treating! Please bring in bags of candy to the school office! All donations are appreciated! Please invite family and friends to the event!  Everyone is invited!

International Peace Day event held on Friday, September 20, was documented in the San Leandro Times, Thursday, Oct. 3rd edition!  Please click  here to read the article written by 7th grade student                            Aniket Dhar.
BAKE SALE!  This Friday, October 11, 2013, apple-pie.jpg12 noon.  Sweet and savory items will be available for sale after lunch.  This is a fundraiser for the 7th and 8th grade Washington DC trip.  Older children will help the younger ones with the money.  It is helpful to put money $1-$3 in a plastic bag with your child’s name on it.

Thank you for joining us at Halcyon Park on Saturday. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with our wonderful school community at our Annual Back to School Picnic.
Thank you to the PTO committee for organizing it, and to all of you who helped with preparation, cooking, jumper supervision, and clean up.  Please make sure you submit your service hour coupons for credit. Please click here for service hour record form.

This week will be for 1st-8th grade parents on Friday,Sept.20, 6:45-8:15 p.m.

 Parents are invited to attend one or both Back to School Nights and hear from the teachers about what will be happening in the classroom during the school year, including curriculum and expectations.

Childcare will be available at both events! 

All adults attending Back to School Nights receive a free raffle ticket to win  a Family 4 pack of tickets to see Disney on Ice in October! Other prizes are tickets to see Lionel Richie in concert!

 International Peace Day, this Friday, September 20, 10:30 a.m.:  All students will participate in the

International Peace Day events that we will hold on Friday morning starting around 10:30 a.m.  Students have been busy this week painting peace rocks. 8th grade students will conduct a Peace Day Assembly as the each student places the rock on the country of family heritage.  There will be a march on Washington Ave., led by the 7th and 8th grade class, with teachers chaperoning.  All parents are welcome to attend!  We are looking forward to a meaningful event!

Kindergarten-8th grade students receive weekly Behavior Reports and Preschool Parents have folders in the Preschool with School Notifications and child artwork.

Every Monday, each child in Kindergarten through 8th grade will receive a Behavior Report  with school work  and handouts inside.  Please empty the envelope, review and keep the student work, initial the front of the envelope, and return the envelope with your child on Tuesday.

Community Service Project Opportunity:
California Coastal Clean-up, this Saturday, 
9/21, 9 – 11 a.m.: Please bring your family and join other Principled Academy families to participate in our September Community Service.   We will help with the California Coastal Clean-up on Saturday, 9/21.   Meet us at the Monarch Bay bridge at the south end of Marina Park to check in with the City of San Leandro. The city will provide trash bags,  gloves,  and water to all volunteers.  Bring a reusable water bottle as water will be dispensed from large containers.  Join the fun, get service hours, and help save the planet!

Back to School BBQ Picnic, this Saturday,

Sept. 14, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Halcyon Park

(147th & Western Ave.)

Please bring your entire family and have lots of fun!  We will have two JUMPERS,  CAPTURE THE FLAG, a PINATA and more.  It will be fun for parents and students.

 The school will provide hot dogs and hamburgers, drinks and paper products.  We would appreciate it if each school family could bring a dessert, salad and/or side dish.

This park has a nice grassy area but very few picnic tables, so you may want to bring chairs and blankets for seating.

Relatives and friends who are not in the area can order online as can anyone at our online store if you click here .

Morning Assembly:The teachers begin each day with an inspirational message, story, or biography of a heroic person. On the anniversary of 9/11 , we will pay tribute to, and remember the victims and rescue workers we wish to honor.  

YOGA Class for Adults, Tuesdays, 3:30 – 5 p.m. with Carol Love.  The cost is $10 per class, drop-in basis.  Please arrange childcare through our office, if needed.  For more information contact Carol Love at loveyogadance@gmail.com.
